Who invented Wing Foiling?
Wing Foiling, a new and exciting water sport, was invented by Marcus “Flash” Austin, a former world champion kitesurfer and water sports enthusiast. Flash combined Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) foiling with winging to create this unique sport. He began experimenting in Maui using old Naish kites to create 3.5m² and 4m² wings, and successfully managed to get on the foil and execute jibes. His innovative approach quickly gained attention and sparked a wave of interest in wing foiling. Check out the video of Flash Austin posted on March 26, 2018 and Wingsurfing Magazine’s article about the History of Wing Foiling to learn more about the sport’s inventor and early development.
